Atlantic Breeders Incentive Program
The ATLANTIC BREEDERS INCENTIVE PROGRAM is a program to promote the breeding
of reining horses in the eastern United States and in Canada. The money
collected, including the nomination fees paid by the owners of the enrolled
stallions, and the nomination fees paid by the breeders (mare owners),
will be distributed in a Three Year Old Futurity and a Four, Five, and
Six Year Old Derby. The first Annual Futurity was held July 1998 at the
Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston, NC, and currently hosted by
the Carolina Fall Classic Futurity in October. The Four, Five, and Six
Year Old Derby Division started in the year 2003 and is currently held
in conjunction with the Carolina Classic Derby.
This program will collect, by May 15 of the foaling year, a nomination
fee from the stallion owner of $350.00 due each year that the stallion
is enrolled. The breeder (owner of the mare) will pay a nomination fee
of $100.00 to enroll the resulting foal before December 31 of the weanling
year. There will not be any sustaining payments with the exception of
the entry fee at the show or any late penalties.
CONDITIONS:
1. STALLION ENROLLMENTS:
Stallion owners will pay an annual enrollment fee of $350.00 per foaling
year, which will make all current foals sired by this stallion from the
resulting breeding season eligible.
2. BREEDERS NOMINATION
To be eligible for the Futurity and the Derby the breeder (mare owner)
must pay $100.00 nomination fee for each foal before December 31 of the
weanling year. The foal will be eligible to enter the Futurity and the
Derby. If a breeder would like to nominate a foal by a stallion that is
not enrolled, in the weanling year, by December 31, he must pay a fee
of $200.00 but only his foal will be eligible and no stallion winnings
[nor breeders awards] will be paid.

the balance of all enrollment and nomination fees will be distributed
as follows:

The ATLANTIC BREEDERS INCENTIVE PROGRAM is produced by the Atlantic Breeders,
Inc., a North Carolina based non-profit corporation and is
administered by the Carolina Classic Inc. The original board of directors
consist of Francois Gauthier, Mike Hancock, Brian Dygert, and Mike McEntire.
All fees will be maintained in money market investment accounts at federally
insured banks. Promotional and administrative expenses are estimated to
be less than 15% of the stallion enrollment and breeder nomination fees
for each year. The balance of all fees received and the interest earned
will be used as added money for the Atlantic Breeders Incentive Program
in future years. The Atlantic Breeders board of directors can change
or improve the rules at any time or can cancel the program and if so,
will reimburse nominations minus 15%.
